Isiah Whitlock, Jr.
Isiah Whitlock, Jr. (born September 13, 1954) is a distinguished American actor renowned for his compelling performance as the corrupt state senator Clay Davis in the acclaimed HBO series, The Wire. His portrayal of Davis, complete with a memorable catchphrase that emphasizes his unique pronunciation of "shit" (“sheee-it”), has become iconic in popular culture.
In 2011, Whitlock showcased his comedic talents in the film Cedar Rapids, where he played Ronald Wilkes, an insurance agent who humorously impersonates Omar Little, a character from The Wire. Notably, this reference to the series was included in the script prior to his involvement.
Whitlock's filmography also includes significant roles in Spike Lee’s films, such as She Hate Me and 25th Hour, where he appeared as Agent Amos Flood, further solidifying his status in the industry. Additionally, he had a supporting role as Eugine in the 2003 film Pieces of April and made a brief appearance in the classic movie Goodfellas as a doctor attending to Henry Hill's brother. In 2007, he portrayed Ethan Banks in the family-friendly film Enchanted.
